2020 Show-Me Rally

The 2020 American Rally Association Show-Me Rally was a success! After a horrendous showing at the Missouri Ozark Rally, our main goal was to be consistent and finish. This was the first time that we would have to write our own notes and we actually liked it a lot. We felt increased confidence in them even when compared to the typically supplied jemba notes. Additionally, this rally was dustier than normal, which made visibility on some stages slim to none but we made the best of it!
The first day we just felt the car out as we had made several handling changes to it over the summer. We were fortunate enough up take the jump once before it was cancelled due to a nasty wreck. We also focused on nailing our apexs especially in the hairpins even if it meant braking a little earlier. The dust was terrible as the day went on. A 2min dust window for stage 3 provided some relief but we were still frequently plowing through white walls.
After getting a feel for things again after nearly a year out of the seat, we pushed a little more on Saturday. The car felt great! Super predictable and neutral. All was going well and we were trading 2nd place in class back and forth with Greg Healey/Phil Barnes which made for some excitement. Unfortunately, that came to an end on stage 8 when we caught a broken car early into the stage and we were forced to slow down heavily due to being in their dust cloud. We pushed harder on the remaining 2 stages in an attempt to make up time but it wasn't enough. We finished 3rd in class and just missed 2nd by 7sec!
We missed our typical battle with nemesis Poor Boy Racing since they had some electrical issues slowing them down. Shout out to Ben Young for helping us replace the trailer tire that was about to grenade any second. As always thanks to Misha Avrushenko for letting us borrow his truck and thanks to all of our sponsors!
Lastly, thanks to all of the event organizers and volunteers for making this event run smoothly in the midst of a pandemic. We will be back next year with even more improvements! Stay tuned!
